What are mock CQC Inspections?

Mock inspections are an opportunity to make sure your care setting is providing care that’s safe, caring, effective, responsive to people’s needs and well-led services.

An inspection from the Care Quality Commission will use a variety of data which will form part of the inspection process designed to assess if the care you are providing meets the regulatory requirements.

What do you need to prepare for?

A mock inspection can help you maximise excellence across your organisation. An inspection will evaluate your services using a variety of data collection. This will include talking to health professionals, staff, people who use services and families.

Mock CQC Inspection FAQs

Here are some of the key questions we are frequently asked about mock CQC Inspections. If you still have questions contact us today as we would be delighted to speak to you and discuss your business.

Our processes mirror that of the CQC.

  • We observe staff and service areas.
  • We speak with staff, service users and family members.
  • We look at relevant documentation.
  • We provide feedback.
  • We provide an in depth report of our findings and action plan.
  • We will support you going forward.

The time it takes to complete a mock inspection will vary on the size of your service. It will usually range from one to three days on site. Once our inspection has been completed you will receive a report within 5 working days. This will include a robust action plan outlining the required improvements.

The frequency will depend on how your service is performing. If your service is rated ‘outstanding’ a mock inspection once a year should be sufficient. If your service is under performing then more frequent mock inspections would be recommended.

Our report will cover any issues or deficiencies which may require rectification and we’ll also provide you with clear guidelines outlining recommended improvements alongside your action plan.

Our action plan provides you with a tailored plan to help you address the key priorities identified in our report following your mock CQC Inspection.

To optimise performance reviews further, regular inspections every three months are recommended and have been devised as part of our commission program. Ultimately it is down to your own discretion what assistance you need on an ongoing basis after your initial mock CQC Inspection.
